forces of pressure

In this topic you will learn how to measure pressure and understand how pressures is applied in a range of situation. You will also carry out experiments to test the effects of force and surface area on presssure.

How Science Works: 1.2 Practical and inquiry skills;
3.1 Energy, electricity and forces: b) forces are interactions between objects and can affect their shape and motion
  • Understand the relationship between force, area and pressure
  • Recognise what pressure is and some examples of high and low pressure
  • Understand how ideas about pressure are applied to a range of situations
  • Describe what atmospheric pressure is and what causes it
  • Describe what atmospheric pressure is and what causes it.
  • Understand how particles in gases create pressure
  • Recognise how models can be used to explain observations
  • Understand about pressure in liquids
